Women’s Swimming Opens Competition at ECAC Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (November 30, 2012)
 – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team opened competition at the 2012 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships (ECAC). The Ducks are currently in second place as they head into the second of three days of competition.
 
Stevens competed in a pair of events on Day 1. Junior Louise Moores (Mukilteo, Wash.), sophomore Brittany Geyer (Brunswick, Ohio), sophomore Sharon Rooker (Forest Grove, Ore.) and freshman Jennifer Rutledge (Suwanee, Ga.) won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.50, netting the team 64 points. The finish was also good for an NCAA B-cut.
 
Freshman Elizabeth Heinbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched a B-cut with her 17:36.53 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. The rookie earned the team 26 points and took fourth place. Senior Victoria Baldwin (The Woodlands, Texas) was 17th in the mile, nabbing nine points with an 18:10.54.
 
Stevens totaled 99 points on the first day of competition and is trailing Division I foe Columbia University. The Lions have a team tally of 216.
 
Day 2 is set to get underway at 10 a.m. Saturday.
