 – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team is in the lead of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships after two days of competition in East Meadow, N.Y. The Ducks have totaled 1,120.5 team points and have a commanding lead on second place Siena College (742).

In total, the Ducks were excellent on Saturday, turning in eight NCAA B-cuts, one NCAA A-cut and earning nine event wins.

In the morning session, the first event was the 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Sharon Rooker (Forest Grove, Ore.) and junior Megan Lisbon (Woodbridge, Va.) were first and third with times of2:07.68 and 2:08.23. The duo earned 55 team points.

Junior Louise Moores (Mukilteo, Wash.) won the 100-yard freestyle with a new meet-record time of 51.12. Her finish was an NCAA B-cut and was good enough to make the NCAA Championships a season ago. Senior Marissa Douglas (Cumberland, R.I.) was second (52.73) and freshman Jennifer Rutledge (Suwanee, Ga.) was fourth, clocking a 54.93. The trio totaled 86 points.

Stevens' best finisher in the 200-yard butterfly was sophomore Maria McClue (Pequannock, N.J.) who tallied a seventh and picked up 23 points, while sophomore Brittany Geyer (Brunswick, Ohio) set a new meet record in winning the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.77. Her finish was good for an NCAA B-cut and also would have made last year's NCAA's. Freshmen Elena Piper (Chesapeake, Va.) and Katlyn Christenson (Snohomish, Wash.) placed third and sixth, respectively, with times of 2:25.83 and 2:29.11. All three Ducks combined for 83 squad points.

The final event of the afternoon, the 800-yard freestyle relay, saw Douglas, sophomore Nicole Miller (Peoria, Ill.), Christenson and freshman Elizabeth Heinbach (Cincinatti, Ohio) take first place and pick up 64 points with their time of 7:45.92.

Rutledge, Miller, Rooker and Moores took home 64 points in winning the 200-yard freestyle relay to open the evening session. The group's time of 1:35.93 was good for an NCAA B-cut. Moores, Rooker and Lisbon went one-three-five in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking times of 55.56, 57.20 and 59.57. The top-two were good for NCAA B-cuts and Moores' time would have qualified for the 2012 national meet.

Douglas won the 200-yard freestyle, touching at 1:54.62 and earning 32 points, while Geyer and sophomore April Lawson (Coronado, Calif.) went first and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with time of 1:04.71 and 1:07.19. Geyer's time was low enough for a B-cut and would have qualified for the 2012 NCAA's. Piper placed sixth in the event.

Moores earned another win in the 100-yard butterfly with an NCAA A-cut of 55.24, breaking her own school-record in the process. Rooker was fourth and Douglas finished sixth (58.17, 59.02).

In the final event of the evening, the 400-yard individual medley, Heinbach turned in a winning time of 4:29.78. Her finish was an NCAA B-cut and 2012 qualifying time. Geyer placed second with a B-cut and 2012 qualifying time as well, turning in a 4:30.22.
