SHENANDOAH, Texas (March 20, 2013)
 – Five Ducks were honored as All-Americans and the team is in eighth place after one day of competition at the 2013 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships in Shenandoah, Texas. The Ducks have a team total of 38 points with three days remaining.
 
Sophomore Wesley Elford (Phoenix, Ariz.) placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle to open the morning session earning a spot in the championship final. His time of 4:29.09 set a new school-record by exactly two seconds.
 
In the 200-yard individual medley prelim, senior John Hu (Oak Harbor, Wash.) placed 13th with a 1:50.61, earning a spot in the consolation final. The top-eight finishers in each prelim earn a spot in the championship final, with the next eight competing in the consolation final. Placers one through eight are All-Americans, while nine through 16 are honorable mention All-American.
 
In the final event of the morning session for Stevens, senior Greg Charriez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.), junior Simas Jarasunas (Vilnius, Lithuania), senior Daniel Munt (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior Tyler Hessler (Southbury, Conn.) combined for a 1:31.13 in taking seventh in the 200-yard medley relay.
 
Elford was eighth in the 500-yard free championship final with a 4:31.90, earning All-America accolades, while Hu was 13th in the 200-yard IM consolation final with a 1:50.06. The Duo netted the Ducks 15 team points.
 
Stevens was eighth in the 200-medley final, just missing a new program-record with a time of 1:30.94. The group of Charriez, Jarasunas, Munt and Hessler walked away as All-Americans and earned 22 team points to bring the total to 37 after one day.
 
Kenyon is in first with 110 points, Denison is in second with 89 and MIT is third (88). Johns Hopkins is fourth (72), Emory is fifth (67), Redlands is sixth (49) and UW-Stevens Point is seventh (38).
 
Six Ducks were honored as All-Americans (five) or honorable mention All-American (one) on the first day of competition and will look for more on the second of four days of action in Texas. Visit www.StevensDucks.com for links to live results and video Thursday.
