HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 11, 2013) – Stevens Institute of Technology staff and students have gotten fully behind NCAA DIII Week, which began on Monday, April 8 and runs until Sunday, April 14. The week is recognized to celebrate the accomplishments of student-athletes and gives them the opportunity to become more involved in campus and community life.
In DIII Week's second annual celebration, Stevens student-athletes have been involved in a number of ways. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) kicked off the week by interviewing a handful of student-athletes to discuss why they chose Division III; the responses are being emailed to all student-athletes and coaches throughout the week.
Student-athlete representatives from every sport have also taken part in a video also focusing on the unique opportunities Division III offers. Each student-athlete came up with a personal response to why they chose and love Division III; the video will be released later this week.
All students will be able to see the celebration of Division III week over the weekend as posters and banners will appear throughout campus. Faculty and staff will also be invited to a future game to be recognized for the role they play in shaping a student-athlete's complete Division III experience.
Fans have been able to join in recognizing the commitment to both academics and athletics that Division III promotes, with the twitter hashtags #d3week and #whyd3 accompanying a number of in-game and other tweets throughout the week.
