ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 28, 2014) – Sophomore standout Danielle Caruso was named the Empire 8 Women's Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Monday night.
 
Caruso led Stevens Institute of Technology to a 146-116 win over NCAA Division I opponent Saint Peter's University on Saturday in the Ducks' 2014-15 season-opener at the DeBaun Aquatic Center.
 
Caruso won three individual events on the afternoon. Her first came in the 1,000-yard freestyle, setting a new DeBaun Aquatic Center pool-record with her 10:32.16. Caruso came back to win the 200-freestyle, clocking a 1:57.14, with win No. 3 coming in the 500-freestyle thanks to a time of 5:13.18.
 
The sophomore also helped the 400-yard freestyle team place second with a 3:40.90.
 
The Ducks – 1-0 – will take a week off from competition before returning to the pool for a two-day tri-meet in Manhattan, N.Y. against New York University and SUNY New Paltz.
