RESULTSNEW HAVEN, Conn. (December 6, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's track teams put forth a solid showing Saturday at the Yale Season Opener in Connecticut.
The one day, unscored event served as a winter season tune-up for programs across all levels of collegiate track and field.
Senior
Robert Pinto qualified for the ECACs with a second place finish in the high jump while sophomore
Brian Fratto took seventh in the 60 meter with a school record 7.17.
Elsewhere in the field, sophomore
Daniel Jacome made the finals in both shot put and weight throw and was joined by sophomore
Neil Forrester in the finals in shot put. Junior
Shane Chiaravalle concluded the men's highlights with a finals appearance in the 500 meter.
The women's team also saw success with shot put finals appearances for freshman
Katie Weeks and sophomore
Victoria Taibe, and a weight throw finals appearance for sophomore
Yanique Spigner.
"Overall this was a solid opener for both teams," head coach
Justin Wood said. "We found out where our fitness is before the break and it will help set us up for next semester. They put in a great effort today and showed that we have a lot to work with."
The Ducks will take a break from competition for finals before returning to action on Jan. 10 at the Yale University Invitational.
