ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 19, 2015) – Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball junior Kaitlyn Astel was named the Empire 8 Conference's Player of the Week Monday after leading the Ducks to a pair of wins.
 
The honor is the second in as many weeks for the Stevens guard.
 
Astel averaged 18 points and seven rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Ducks that included wins over The College of New Jersey and Elmira College.
 
After a 12 point, six rebound performance in 16 minutes against TCNJ on Monday, Astel poured-in a game and career high 25 points and 10 rebounds against Ithaca College on Friday. Astel then followed up that performance on Saturday with 19 points and five rebounds in a win against Elmira.
 
Astel also added six assists, five blocks and one steal during the week.
 
The Ducks will continue Empire 8 play Friday when they travel to Hartwick College for a 6 p.m. game, followed by a 2 p.m. tip on Saturday at Utica College.
