HOBOKEN, N.J. (NOVEMBER 15, 2015)
–Freshman Mary Visca of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team was chosen for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships on November 21.

Visca has twice been named E8 cross runner of the week, including the opening week of the season. At the Ron Stonitsch Invitational, Visca finished third in her major collegiate meet. Her time of 18:59.1 was the second best among Division III runners that competed.

At the Empire 8 Championships on Halloween, Visca placed third with a mark of 18:40 and was the top freshman in the field. At the Atlantic Region Championships yesterday, the Pittsford, N.Y. native led the Ducks to a 12th team finish by placing 16th individually with a time 22:30 for the 6K.

Visca is the second female in Stevens women's cross country program history to qualify for NCAA's. Amy Regan, a three-time qualifier, advanced in 2012 as a freshman. Regan finished ninth at the Atlantic Region Championships that year, and last fall became the first cross country runner in state history to win an individual national championship.

The NCAA Championships are being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh next Saturday, with the women's race being set for 11 a.m. Lake Breeze Golf Club will be the site of both the men's 8K and women's 6K.
