Evans Nets UVC Player of the Week Nod

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 9, 2015) – Stevens Institute of Technology senior outside hitter David Evans was named the United Volleyball Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Evans helped second-ranked Stevens to a perfect 3-0 week, as the Ducks earned convincing 3-0  wins over No. 1 Juniata, No. 8 Rivier and a Lasell College team that came into the match with a record of 7-1.

Evans played seven of the team's nine sets on the week, leading the Ducks with 27 kills, a hitting percentage of .385, and averaging 3.86 kills per set. The veteran standout also added seven service aces in addition to notching seven digs and five block assists.

After recording four kills in one set in the sweep of Lasell, Evans had 11 and 12 kills against Juniata and Rivier, respectively, pocketing all seven of his aces against the two top-10 squads.

After falling in its first two matches of the season – at DI's Hawaii and Sacred Heart – the Ducks have been on a tear, winning six-straight matches and 18-straight sets. They are 6-2 overall and will almost certainly be the No. 1 team in the nation when the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) releases its next poll.

Stevens will return to the court Wednesday night when it hosts in-state Division I rival NJIT in the Canavan Arena beginning at 7 p.m.
