HOBOKEN, N.J. (December 9, 2016) – The No. 9 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team extended its dual match win streak to 23 Friday night with an overpowering 45-9 win over Hunter in Hoboken.
The win moved Stevens to 9-0 this season, while Hunter fell to 1-6.
Senior
Rob Murray set the tone early with a dominating pin as time was expiring in the first period at 125, before two straight forfeits made it 18-0 Stevens three matches in. Hunter responded with a fall at 149, but No. 3 sophomore
Thomas Poklikuha answered back with a fall of his own in 2:30 at 157 to extend the lead to 24-6.
Hunter battled back once more with a decision win at 165, before junior
Josh Smith's pin at 174 and senior
Danny Moore's 15-9 win at 184 made it 33-9.
No. 8
A.J. Kowal capped the match with a fall in 1:30 at 197, followed by another forfeit at 285 to wrap up the 45-9 victory.
The match ends the 2016 portion of the schedule for Stevens with the team set to return to action on January 7 for the North/South Duals.
