HOBOKEN, N.J. (June 22, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team announced its 17-match
2016 schedule Wednesday in a slate that includes four NCAA Tournament participants from a season ago.
The Ducks are coming off a 15-4-2 campaign in 2015 that saw them capture a ninth-straight Empire 8 Conference championship en route to a 13th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Stevens opens its slate at home on September 3 against Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an NCAA sweet 16 team from last season that won 18 matches. The Ducks will be looking to avenge a 4-3 loss to the Engineers last fall in a stiff opening-day test.
The College of New Jersey visits Hoboken after that on September 7 in another revenge match for Stevens after a 2-1 road defeat that season. A tough road test with Montclair State University follows on September 10 before a home matchup with Haverford College on September 14.
Montclair St. and Haverford are coming off 19 and 18 wins seasons respectively in 2015, and each reached the second round of NCAAs.
The Ducks will hit the road after that with three straight away from the De Baun Athletic Complex against Ithaca College, United States Merchant Marine Academy, and St. John Fisher College, before a four-match homestand starting on September 28 against Widener University.
Sandwiched in-between a pair of Empire 8 Conference matches with Elmira College and Utica College falls a matchup with Franklin & Marshall College on October 5, a 17-4 team last fall that won a pair of NCAA matches.
Two more on the road follow at College of Staten Island and Nazareth College, before Stevens rounds out its home dates with three matches starting on October 18 against Rutgers University-Newark at 7 p.m.
The Scarlet Raiders captured the ECAC Metro/Upstate title last season in a 16-win campaign that included a 2-1 win over Stevens on October 20.
After home dates with Alfred University and Berkeley College, Stevens will wrap up the regular season on October 29 at Houghton College.
Of Stevens' 10 non-conference opponents, nine registered winning seasons in 2015.
