SHENANDOAH, Texas (March 20, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team is in seventh place after two days of action at the 2013 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Ducks have 88 team points, with Kenyon leading the pack at 286. Denison is in second with 228 and MIT is third (204). Johns Hopkins is fourth (179), Emory is fifth (160) and Amherst is sixth (91).

Byron Held (Beverton, Ore.) and junior
Tyler Hessler (Southbury, Conn.) placed ninth in the 200-yard freestyle prelims to guarantee honorable mention All-America honors, with senior
John Hu (Oak Harbor, Wash.) taking sixth to solidify a spot in the championship final with a time of 3:55.99 in the 400-yard individual medley. The top eight spots in the prelims are championship finalists and numbers. nine through 16 are honorable mention All-American.
Sophomore
Nick Noga (Oriskany, N.Y.) placed 10th in the 200-yard freestyle with a new school-record of 1:38.92 to lock up a spot in the consolation final, while senior
Alex Benham (Raleigh, N.C.) was 20th with his 1:39.72.
In the final event of the prelims, senior
Greg Charriez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.), junior
Simas Jarasunas (Vilnius, Lithuania), senior
Daniel Munt (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior
Shawn Hanak (North Royalton, Ohio) placed seventh with a school-record-time of 3:20.12 in the 400-yard medley relay.
Stevens opened the finals with a 1:22.25 in the 200-free relay finals, tallying 12 team points and finishing 11th. Hu turned in a great swim in the 400-IM, touching the wall with a school-record time of 3:53.16. Hu broke his own mark by almost two seconds.
Noga ended up taking 16th for honorable mention All-America distinction in the 200-free, tallying a 1:39.87 and bringing home a team point.
In the final event of Day 2, Charriez, Jarasunas, Munt and Hanak all earned All-America honors by taking eighth in the 400-medley with a time of 3:20.78 in the 400-yard medley relay.
The Ducks will look to continue a strong performance at the 2013 championships Thursday, in the third of four days of competition in Texas.
