HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 14, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team kept their undefeated season alive Sunday with a dominating 9-0 win over Alfred University in Hoboken.
The win brings the Stevens record to 6-0 while Alfred dropped to 2-3.
For the fourth time this season and the second day in a row, the Ducks started the match with a sweep of doubles. In her first action of 2014, senior
Jessica Bourque teamed with sophomore
Alexis Connor at No. 1 to cruise to an 8-0 win over juniors Rachel Cook and Emma Jackson. Sophomore
Allie Masciana and junior
Julia Guignard followed suit with an 8-0 win at No. 3 before senior
Danielle Stewart and freshman
Katrina Guido finished things off with an 8-4 win at No. 2.
Stewart and Guido are now 6-0 on the season at doubles.
Stevens kept the pressure on once singles started with Bourque's 6-1, 6-0 win over senior Brennan Ferguson at No. 1, followed by a 6-4, 6-1 win for Guignard at No. 3. Connor continued the streak with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 before Masciana's 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Stewart and Guido finished off the sweep with 6-3, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 wins at No. 2 and No 4 respectively.
