HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 27, 2017)  – With Empire 8 Conference seeding on the line, the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team has an action-packed weekend lined up for the final three-game series of the 2017 regular season with nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College.

Entering the weekend with an 8-7 record in league play and locked in a battle with Utica College and Elmira College for the final two conference championship births, the Ducks will take to the field for an E8 doubleheader against the Cardinals, who are 25-6 overall and 12-0 in conference play. St. John Fisher was ranked No. 15 by the NCBWA and D3Baseball.com and No. 22 by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper in the most recent polls. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 noon. Immediately following the conclusion of game one, the Hoboken Museum will commemorate the first officially recorded, organized "base ball" game played under Alexander Joy Cartwright, Jr's rules. 2017 marks the fifth consecutive season that the Hoboken Nine will host a game played under these sames rules at Dobbelaar Field. The "match" will be a two-inning exhibition and will feature a voice-over narration, detailing the affair. The Ducks and Cardinals will take to Dobbelaar Field for game two of their doubleheader at approximately 3:00 p.m. Earlier this season, Stevens baseball toured the Hoboken Museum and gained a deeper understanding of the connection between the game of baseball and the city that their institution calls home.

"This event has been a unique and fun one for us over the years," head coach Kristaps Aldins said. "Taking a day to appreciate the great game of baseball, especially here in Hoboken is a no-brainer and an important history lesson for our student-athletes. The added bonus this weekend is that our season is on the line and we can't wait to play in front of so many of our families, friends, alumni and recruits. We expect that the atmosphere at Dobbelaar Field at De Baun Athletic Complex will be electric this weekend."

There will be free ballpark food and drink (while supplies last) for those in attendance, including cracker jacks and beverages. 

On Sunday, prior to the final game of the 2017 season, the Ducks will pay tribute to the seven student-athlete class of 2017 in an on-field ceremony. First pitch for the game is again scheduled for noon and the Senior Day ceremonies will begin at 11:35 a.m..
