Senior guard Russ Thompson of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team was named the Empire 8 Player of the Week Monday.
Thompson keyed the Ducks to a pair of wins, improving their overall record to 8-1 and conference mark to 2-0.
In Friday's win over Houghton College, Thompson scored 10 points, handed out three assists and grabbed two rebounds. He backed that performance with a career-high 32 points in a comeback victory at Nazareth College Saturday. In that game, the senior went 10-for-16 from the field and 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. He was 6-for-6 at the line and 25 of his points came in a second half in which the Ducks were able to erase a 13-point deficit.
For the week, Thompson averaged 21 points, shot 62.5 percent from the field and 46 percent from long range in 31 minutes per game.
