Sophomore forward Patrick Sabatino is Stevens' Athlete of the Week. He also earned Empire 8 Player of the Week honors after helping the men's basketball team to a 3-0 week.
Sabatino started the week with a 13-point, six-rebound performance as the Ducks downed Kean University in a non-conference showdown in Union, N.J. last Monday.
The sophomore followed that solid night with 18 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes of action in a 72-48 rout of Alfred University at the Canavan Arena Friday night. His best game of the week came against St. John Fisher College on Saturday when the Westfield, N.J. native tallied a career-high 26 points on 10-for-13 shooting, eight rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.
For the week, Sabatino averaged 19 points, 7.3 rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 28 minutes. He shot 74.2 percent (23-for-31) from the field and 83.3 percent (10-for-12) at the line.
In the two E8 victories, Sabatino averaged 22 points and shot 78.3 percent from the field. He was 7-for-8 (87.5 percent) at the line, had four blocks, two steals and averaged eight rebounds in 52 total minutes.
On the season, the second-year Duck is scoring 14.8 per outing and grabbing 6.1 rebounds. He has scored in double figures in 11 of Stevens' 12 games and also has one double-double.
The Ducks, who are on a five-game winning streak, are 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the Empire 8. They are tied atop the Empire 8 standings with Ithaca College.
