Freshman Frank Szucs (Brookside, N.J.) tied the Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf program record with a one-under 71 in his collegiate debut as the Ducks shot a team-record 302 at the Skenandoa Golf Club in the Utica College Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

The Ducks placed second in the nine-team event, bettering last year's third-place finish.  The University of Scranton, which finished second in last season's Empire 8 Athletic Conference Championship, locked up the title with a 294, but Stevens comfortably defeated SUNYCobleskille (306) and last year's third-place Empire 8 team, Elmira College, which had come in with a 308.

Szucs finished second individually, three strokes behind Scranton's Grant Gulick.  The rookie matched 2009 graduate Tom Merriam's single-round record set in 2008 at the same course; no other Duck has ever shot lower than 73.

The team's combined total of 302 strokes broke the program's previous record of 307, set last September in the Penn State Harrisburg Classic at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course.
