On the final day of September, senior Bridgette Barden (Redondo Beach, Calif.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team was named Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Stevens went 1-1 in its two matches this week with a 4-3 overtime loss to Drew University on September 25 and a 3-0 shutout against Empire 8 counterpart, Utica College, on September 28. With the split, the Ducks are now 4-5 overall this season and 1-0 in the conference.

In the two matches, Barden totaled six points on two goals and two assists. Against Drew, the Redondo Beach native played a part in all three scores with a goal with two assists. Her first assist came off a rebound to senior Becky Wos (Mukwonago, Wis.) and her second resulted in the equalizer to force the contest into overtime. Barden's goal against the Rangers was scored from the corner of the 18-yard box off a throw in.

Barden posted the game-winning goal in Stevens' second shutout this season in the team's first official Empire 8 match of the season against Utica. She netted her third goal of the season in the 17th minute of play.

So far this season, Barden ranks first on the team in assists with three and its second in points with nine and tied for second with three goals.
