Junior forward Patrick Sabatino of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team was named the Empire 8 Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.
Sabatino led Stevens to a pair of conference road wins this past weekend, averaging 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks. Sabatino totaled 44 points on just 27 field-goal attempts, shooting 59.3 percent from the field (16-for-27) and 83.3 percent from the line (10-for-12).
In Friday's win over Ithaca, Sabatino scored 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. He backed that up with 21 points, six boards, three assists and two blocks in Saturday's win over Utica that pushed Stevens' conference record to 6-2 and overall mark to 12-5.
Sabatino is now averaging 12.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per outing, and the junior is second in the Empire 8 in blocked shots per game (1.8).
