Aziza Hassan

Aziza Hassan enters her sixth season as an assistant coach for the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s fencing team in 2009-10.

Last season Hassan helped lead the Ducks to one of their best records in the history of the program at 17-6. The team finished third at the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association Championships, and six fencers qualified for the NCAA’s and also named to the all-conference team.

Always staying competitive, Hassan fenced at the 2008 USFA North American Circuit Second Olympic Trials held in Atlanta, Ga. at the World Congress Center. She finished 24th out of 90 fencers in the sabre division as she lost to a worthy opponent who finished within the Top-8.
In 2006-07, Hassan assisted the coaching staff in leading the Ducks to an 11-7 dual meet record. She also helped in sending five fencers to the first round of the NCAA Championships at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J.

In her first year with the squad in 2005-06, Hassan assisted in directing Stevens to a second-place finish at the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Dual Meet Championship as well as a ninth-place showing at the National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association Championship.
As a fencer, Hassan was a student-athlete at Temple University, where she earned NIWFA and All-America honors.

Hassan graduated from Temple in 2004 with a B.A. in Public Relations.
