Aleks Ochocki

Aleks Ochocki enters his fifth season with the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s fencing program under head coach Jim Carpenter.  As a former sabre fencer, he rounds out the Stevens fencing trio with Carpenter, an Olympic epee fencer, and women’s head coach Linda Vollkommer-Lynch, a high-level foilist.

In Ochocki's second season, Stevens set a school record with 26 wins that included two different seven match win streaks, and the program's first win over NYU. During the College Squad Championships, Ochocki's epee squad took fifth place overall after deafeating North Carolina in the first round. Later in the season, Stevens took second in MACFA Championships for the second year in a row.

Ochocki helped the program to its second consecutive 15-win season and sixth straight year with double-digit wins.  The Ducks improved as the season progressed, winning seven of their final eight matches and taking silver at the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association Championships, improving on the previous year’s bronze medal.  Ochocki assisted several individuals in earning national recognition as the team sent a program-record 10 fencers to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, with sophomore Jorge Rojas (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) leading eight top-30 finishers with 17th place in the foil.

A 2012 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, the four-time All-America bookended his fencing career with NCAA Individual Sabre Championship titles in his freshman and senior seasons.  Ochocki reached the semifinals of the competition in each of his four years and served as Penn State’s captain during his junior and senior years.  He also represented the United States at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China in 2011.

Ochocki is a member of the United State National Program, a five-time U.S. Junior National Champion, 15-time Junior North American Cup champion and four-time Junior Olympic Champion.
