Montclair State Edges Stevens in OT in Women's Soccer, 1-0

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. - Sophomore forward Stephanie Sabaliauskas headed in a corner kick by junior midfielder Jessica Koch with 1:42 left in the first sudden-death overtime period to lead the Montclair State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over visiting Stevens Tech tonight at Sprague Field. It was the third straight 1-0 win by the Red Hawks this fall, and their first in overtime. MSU has also won three of its last four games dating back to Sept. 25, and has allowed just one goal in that span.

Montclair State improves to 6-4-2 overall, while Stevens falls to 9-4 as its five-game winning streak ends. The host Red Hawks outshot Stevens, 23-4, with junior goalkeeper Rommy Guevara (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) making 10 saves for the visiting Ducks. Senior goaltender Stephanie Romanko had one save for Montclair in recording her seventh shutout this fall, and the 40th of her MSU career.

Sophomore forward Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) led Stevens with three shots, while Sabaliauskas led all players with eight shots. Sabaliauskas continues to lead Montclair in scoring, now with six goals and 13 points in 12 games. MSU freshman forward Kelly Dutko and junior midfielder Kristin Weber each contributed four shots on the night, with Dutko getting all four on goal.
