DANBURY, Conn.—Freshman back Lauren Buroojy (Newton, Pa./George School) scored the lone goal to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team past Western Connecticut 1-0 Wednesday night. With the win, Stevens improves to 15-1-1, while Western Connecticut drops to 13-5-1.
Both teams remained scoreless in the first half with the Colonials out shooting the Ducks 7-5. However, the Ducks dominated the second half and scored what proved to be the game winning goal in the 66th minute. Buroojy scored her first collegiate goal off a corner kick that was assisted by senior midfielder Kim Mirra (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley). Stevens out shot Western Connecticut 9-3 in the half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Midttveit (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) recorded the shut out in goal with six saves in the game.
The Ducks return to action on Saturday, October 30 when they host Centenary in their last home game of the season at 1 p.m.
