Wrestling falls to Hunter College, 29-14

Freshman Ryan Bennick picked up a 15-0 win for the Ducks against Hunter College.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Freshman Ryan Bennick (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Senior) won by a 15-0 technical fall at 165 pounds, but Hunter College won seven of 10 matches to defeat the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team 29-14 on Tuesday night.

With the loss Stevens falls to 3-4, while Hunter moves to 1-4.

Junior Pat Falvey (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) put Stevens on the board with a 5-0 win over Matt Myers at 133 pounds.  At 149, freshmen Michael Detsis (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) earned a win by forfeit to keep the Ducks in contention.   However, after Bennick’s win over Eric Giannini at 165, Hunter won the final four matches to pull out the win.

The Ducks return to action on Saturday, January 15 when they travel to Muhlenberg.   The meet will begin at noon and feature Centennial Conference competitors Muhlenberg, Johns Hopkins, and Kings Point.
