No. 25 Women’s Soccer Edges Richard Stockton 2-1

Junior Megan Legendre notched her third game-winning goal of the season to lead Stevens past Stockton.

POMONA, NJ (October 5, 2005) – The No. 25 ranked Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team improved its winning steak to 11 games with a 2-1 victory over Richard Stockton Wednesday evening in Pomona, NJ.  With the win, the Ducks improve to 11-1 overall, while Stockton falls to 4-8-1 with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, junior Siena York-Carr (Davis, CA) found senior Heather Dean (Renton, WA) who gave Stevens a 1-0 lead on a 25-yard shot from the right wing at 48:26.  Junior Megan Legendre (O’Fallon, IL) scored the eventual game-winner at 79:20 on a rebound after the initial shot by freshman Kristen Wolf (Matawan) who picked up her third assist of the season on the goal.

Val Davidson brought the Ospreys within one when she scored from inside the box at 84:46.  Stevens’ offense held off Stockton for the remaining five minutes of the game to earn its 11th straight win, 2-1.

Junior goalkeeper Erica Midttveit (Jackson, NJ) registered four saves in goal for the Ducks.

Stevens who entered the national rankings for the first time this season earlier this week, is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when it travels to St. Davids, PA to play Eastern at 11:30 a.m.
