Legendre’s Overtime Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Drew 1-0

Junior Megan Legendre's fourth goal of the season proved to be the game winner in the Ducks Homecoming game against Drew.

HOBOKEN, NJ –Junior Megan Legendre’s (O’Fallon, IL) goal in the third minute of overtime lifted the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Drew University Saturday afternoon in its Homecoming game at DeBaun Field. The victory is the seventh straight for the Ducks (7-1), who posted their sixth consecutive shutout over the Rangers (4-3).

Legendre’s shot 3:31 into the first overtime period was assisted by sophomore Gina Crifasi (Staten Island, NY) and was shot into the left corner of the net past Drew goalie Ann Mularz.

Drew scored the first goal 17 minutes into the game, but the officials ruled the Rangers offsides and the score was nullified.

Stevens outshot Drew 32-2 and held the advantage in corner kicks 10-3. 

Senior Lorrie Brabender (Newark, DE) registered a game high six shots for the Ducks, while freshman Alison Amos (Plano, TX) and Legendre totaled five apiece.

Stevens junior goalie Erica Midttveit (Jackson, NJ) totaled one save in the game, while Mularz had 13 for Drew.

Stevens is back in action on Monday, Sept. 26, when it travels to Riverdale, NY to play Mount Saint Vincent at 4 p.m.
