HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 11, 2006) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s and women’s swimming teams both earned wins over Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon in the DeBaun Aquatic Center. The men picked up a 103-84 victory and improved to 3-1 with the win. The women recorded their first win of the season with a 102-81 win over the Blue Knights.
Freshman Brent Cox (Las Vegas, Nev.) led the men with three wins on the day. Cox collected first-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events and was also a part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. Senior Vadim Gordin (Ocean Township, N.J.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle and placed second in the 200-yard backstroke.
The women were led by senior Lorrie Brabender (Newark, Del.) and sophomores Emily Woo (Lodi, Calif.) and Nicole Ogrosso (Staten Island, N.Y.). They were all triple-winners on the day for the Ducks.
The Stevens swimming teams are back in action Saturday, November 18 when they compete at the Skyline Conference Championships. The meet will be hosted by U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and will begin at 11:30 a.m.
