COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (January 27, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team was led by freshman Leo Dormann (Mickleton, N.J) and junior Brandon MacWhinnie (Barton, N.Y.) as it competed against Ursinus College and Muhlenberg College on Saturday in Centennial Conference action. Dormann and MacWhinnie both remained undefeated in conference competition as they picked up two wins apiece. The Ducks dropped a 30-18 decision to Ursinus and lost by a 36-15 deficit to Muhlenberg.
Dormann picked up the Ducks’ first win at 149 pounds with a 7-0 victory over Tim Hulme of Ursinus. MacWhinnie followed suit with a 15-0 technical fall over Jon McCarthy at 165 pounds. Senior Will Young (Willingboro, N.J.) collected a 16-1 win over Martin Guy at the heavyweight position.
Freshman Kyle Brisson (Syracuse, N.Y.) earned his fourth win of the season by a pin against Muhlenberg’s Michael Tenenhaus at 125 pounds. Dormann tallied his fifth conference win of the season with a 9-2 decision over Matt Friedman. MacWhinnie extended his dual record to a perfect 15-0 (5-0 in conference) with a pin over David Lavin.
Stevens is back in action on Saturday, February 10 when it hosts Johns Hopkins University and Gettysburg College in its last regular season matches of the season. The match will begin at Noon.
