Clark, Tennyson Notch Goals as Women's Soccer Blanks Hartwick, 2-0

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 27, 2007) – Junior midfielder Audra Clark and junior forward Meghan Tennyson tallied a goal each on Saturday afternoon at the De Baun Athletic Complex as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team shutout Hartwick College by a count of 2-0 in the squad's final regular-season match of the 2007 campaign. With the win, the Ducks improved to 12-4-1 overall with a 7-1 mark in league action. As for the Hawks, they finished out the year with a record of 7-12 and an Empire 8 tally of 2-6.

Prior to the contest, Stevens honored its seven graduating seniors who played in their final regular-season home contest today. They were Cristina Fulgencio, Siena York-Carr, Catherine Rotsides, Nicole Migliore, Lauren Buroojy, Gina Crifasi and Sara Roeder.

The Ducks, who out-shot the Hawks by a 23-5 count in the match, opened up the scoring in the 20th-minute when Clark headed a ball into the left corner of the net via a corner kick by Roeder. Then, in the 68th-minute, Tennyson capped off the scoring when she chipped a 10-yard shot into the top-shelf of the netting off a feed from freshman midfielder Kara Pepe.

Stevens' goalkeepers Jenn Pontier and Sherri Rosenberg faced no shots in the game to preserve the shutout. Their counterparts, Ashley Taylor (Nashua, N.H.) and Trish Beamish (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) combined to make a total of ten saves for Hartwick.

Head Coach Jeff Parker and the Ducks have clinched the No. 2 seed in the Empire 8 tournament. They will host Nazareth College on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinal round. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
