HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 18, 2008) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team allowed just one shot on goal in a conference matchup against Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J. It was all that was needed for the Tigers as the score came at the 29-minute mark when senior forward Erica Main (Chittenango, N.Y.) lined up for a penalty kick and ripped it lower left for the eventual game winner. With the loss (1-0), the Ducks fall to 9-4-1 on the year and 3-3 in Empire 8 play. RIT is now 7-5-2 on the season with a conference ledger of 3-1-1.

What ended as a very physical game, the Ducks statistically out-shot the Tigers 16-5 and out-cornered RIT 4-2. Much credit goes to senior goalkeeper Ashley Conti (Canfield, Ohio), who pulled in five saves as she improves to 3-4-1 on the year. Stevens had many offensive opportunities throughout the game; however the Ducks had trouble finding the back of the net.

On the PK, Main took position 12 yards from the goal and committed left as she buried the ball in the lower corner having beaten the diving Pontier.

The Ducks have now fallen to three Empire 8 opponents, who include Ithaca College, Nazareth College and RIT. Stevens will return to action on Wednesday when they face Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference match at 6 p.m. in Camden, N.J. Following that matchup, Stevens has three more regular season games on schedule, two of which are against league opponents.
