ITHACA, N.Y. (September 19, 2009) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell to 0-8-0 on the season following a 6-0 loss to Empire 8 rival No. 9 Ithaca College at Carp Wood Field in Ithaca, N.Y. The Bombers move to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in league play. Stevens will look to break into the win column on Saturday, September 26, when it plays host to conference foe Elmira College.
Ithaca senior Amy Scheffer (Schalmont, N.Y.) netted two goals to lead the Bombers offensively, with back-to-back markers in the 30th and 32nd minutes. Lauren Koppel (Rockville Center, N.Y.) would stake Ithaca to a 3-0 advantage with a goal in the 63rd minute followed by scores from freshmen Rachael Palladino (Groton, N.Y.) and Julie Winn (Sutton, Mass.) and junior Kelly Gannon (Howe Caverns, N.Y.). Sophomore Megan Trager (Sharon, Mass.) had three assists in the win.
Stevens' junior Kara Pepe and sophomore Zabella Simos recorded the Ducks' only shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn McClymont made 11 saves in the loss.
