POMONA, N.J. (September 4, 2009) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell to 0-2 on the young season following a 2-0 loss to No. 19 Rowan University at the 2009 Stockton Classic in Pomona, N.J. The Profs are the second NSCAA/Adidas ranked program the Ducks have faced in as many matches after opening the season against defending champion No. 1 Messiah College.

Led by sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlin McClymont and junior back Nicole Brand the Ducks backline managed to stave off an unrelenting Rowan attack, maintaining a scoreless tie through the first 37 minutes of action.

The Profs would finally breakthrough in the 38th minute when a Nina Fragoso (Franklinville, N.J.) corner kick was volleyed in by a Ducks defender for an own goal. Rowan, which owned a 20-5 shots advantage and a 4-3 edge in corners, would keep the pressure on in the second half, netting an insurance goal on sophomore Veronica Rhea's (Pennsauken, N.J.) marker in the 50th minute to secure their first win of the season.

Stevens' junior Mary Chew, who registered four shots, and freshman Gia Gonzales recorded the Ducks' lone shots on goal. McClymont made six saves in the loss.

The Ducks will take on tournament host Richard Stockton College at 5:30 p.m. in the final game of the Classic before returning home to host Montclair State University on September 9.
