HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 4, 2011) – Senior co-captain Leo Dormann and sophomore Will Sharkey each scored wins at 157 and 165-lbs., respectively, but the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team fell to visiting No. 4 Ithaca College, 33-6, at Walker Gymnasium in Hoboken, N.J. With the loss the Ducks fell to 11-9-1 in dual matches this season, while the Bombers improved to 12-2 overall on the year.

Bombers' freshman Dominick Giacolone (Cato, N.Y.) got things started with a 3-0 decision over Stevens' Brandon Ling at 125, scoring an escape point in the second period before notching a takedown in the third. Third-ranked Seth Ecker (Pottstown, Pa.) of Ithaca then pinned Ducks freshman Andrew Boehm to stake the Bombers to an early 9-0 lead.

Hoping to get Stevens on the board, Ducks' All-American Ryan Bridge  stepped onto the mat for a 141-lb. bout with senior Jeremy Stierly (Pottstown, Pa.) – ranked second in the nation. After a scoreless first period, Stierly notched an escape point to take a slim edge heading into the final frame. Bridge would answer with an escape point of his own, forcing overtime, but Stierly scored a takedown in the sudden death period, to put Ithaca on top 12-0.

Second-ranked Blaine Wozczak (Manasquan, N.J.) kept things going for the Bombers at 149, pinning freshman CJ Caserta with just two seconds to go in the final period to take six team points. Down 18-3 and needing a win, the Ducks got just that, as Leo Dormann extended his win-streak to seven matches with a thrilling 8-6 sudden death victory over senior Junior Amazan (Hempstead, N.Y.).

Trailing 2-1 entering the second, Amazan quickly hit a reversal before scoring three near fall points to take a 6-2 edge. Hoping to rally, Leo Dormann notched a reversal of his own to trim the deficit to two entering the third period. With an escape point and a riding time point in the frame, the Mickleton, N.J. native forced an overtime session, before taking down his Bomber counterpart to give the Ducks' their first three points of the evening.

Looking to build on the momentum, Sharkey took a 3-2 first period lead in his 165-lb. match-up with sophomore Jason Fraser (Alfred, N.Y.). Frazer would respond with a four-point second frame, taking a 6-4 advantage into the third, but a resilient Sharkey answered with six in the period on a takedown and four near fall points to secure Stevens' second triumph of the day.

Searching for their third-consecutive win, the Ducks turned to 174-pounder Ryan Dormann, but the sophomore failed to extend his 23-match win-streak, falling to ninth-ranked David Priest (Douglassville, Pa.), 7-2.

Junior Keith Dickey (New Cumberland, Pa.) then tallied a 6-2 victory at 184-lbs., before a 3-2 Shane Bartrum (Oswego, N.Y.) decision at 197, followed by a Stevens forfeit at heavyweight sealed the Bombers' 33-6 win.

Stevens will return to action on Wednesday, February 9 against Lycoming College in what will serve as the team's Duck Country event.
