Carly Bean (Williamson, N.Y.) each tallied four points to lead the No. 25 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team to a 5-0 win at Empire 8 Conference foe Alfred University on Sunday. With the victory, Stevens snaps its three-game losing streak and improves to 8-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Empire 8.
Bean netted the game-winning goal in the 18th minute of play for her sixth marker of the season off a feed from junior back
Lindsay Stoll (Bellevue, Wash.). Bean, who picked up her second game-winner this year, ranks second on the team with 15 points, while Stoll is fourth with nine.
Barden put the Ducks up 2-0 six minutes later for the first of her two goals on the afternoon. Her second goal began the scoring for the Ducks in the second half at the 61st minute. Bean assisted on both goals to account for her other two points in the game.
The final two goals for Stevens were recorded by senior midfielder
Nicole Serino (Parsippany, N.J.) and junior forward
Jessie Wos (Mukwonago, Wis.) in a two-minute span late in the contest.
Stevens dominated all facets of the match, outshooting the Saxons, 28-2, and were awarded eight corners to one for Alfred.
All three goalkeepers for the Ducks saw action on the pitch with junior
Melissa Murphy (Pequannock, N.J.) picking up the victory in 29 minutes of play. None of the three goalies were forced to make a save while they were in net.
