NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 30, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team split its bouts with NCAA Division I institutions, Columbia University and New Jersey Institute of Technology on Friday night in New York City.
Stevens lost to the hosts from Columbia, 22-5, and rebounded to defeat NJIT, 15-12, to each its record at 8-4.
Foilists junior
Anthony Worthington (Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore
Jorge Rojas (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) paced the Ducks with 5-1 and 4-2 marks on the evening, respectively.
In the setback to Columbia, Worthington won two bouts by 5-1 and 5-4 scores, while Rojas claimed his lone victory by a tally of 5-3.
Against NJIT, both foilists went 3-0. Worthington won, 5-1, 5-4, 5-0, and Rojas prevailed, 5-1, 5-1, 5-2.
Stevens has an extended break before heading to Boston, Mass. on February 3 for an all day event at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
