RESULTS
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (December 1, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's indoor track & field teams each placed third in the 2012-13 opening meet at Monmouth University on Saturday. The women recorded 60 points, while the men tallied 54 on the afternoon.
On the women's side, senior
Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) and junior
Rebecca Tylock (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each finished first in their respective events. Princiotta clocked a time of 11:27.92 to lead six runners in the 3,000-meter race. Tylock competed in the pole vault and cleared a mark of 10 feet, 6 inches to lead all athletes.
Senior
Alina Duran (West New York, N.J.) put together a solid opening meet by posting two ECAC qualifying marks in the shot put and weight throw events. Duran's toss of 38' 10.25” in the shot put also set a school record in a third place showing. She also placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 54' 8.75”.
In the high jump, sophomore
Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) and freshman
Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) each jumped 5' 2.25” in the high jump to qualify for ECAC's as well.
Junior
Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) also registered a new school record in the mile with a time of 5:32.17 to place third overall.
For the men, senior
Andrew Kraemer (Budd Lake, N.J.) finished first overall in the weight throw with a distance of 52' 9.5” for another ECAC qualifying mark and also set a new school record in the process.
Sophomore
Robert Pinto (Staten Island, N.Y.) also qualified for ECAC's and surpassed a school record in the high jump with a height of 6' 5”, while junior
Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.) posted a time of 8:58.13 in the 3,000 for another top school mark and placed third.
Rounding out the afternoon performances, senior
Victor Servito (Teaneck, N.J.) competed in the 60-meter hurdles and ran a time of 8.64 seconds for a fifth place finish. That time was good for the final ECAC qualifying performance.
Both teams compete again on December 9 at Princeton University at 10 a.m.
