PRINCETON, N.J. (December 9, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology indoor track & field teams competed with limited student-athletes on each side at the Princeton University New Years Invitational but still compiled positive results. This was the final meet of 2012 for both squads.

On the women's side, freshman Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) set a school record in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:50.36 to place second overall in the multi-divisional meet. Regan's time shattered the old school mark by 50 seconds and also qualified her for ECAC's at the beginning of March.

Senior Alina Duran (West New York, N.J.) also posted an ECAC qualifying mark in the weight throw with a distance of 53 feet, 5.75 inches. Duran placed fifth in the event and was just one foot away from moving into the top three.

Junior Rebecca Tylock (Shrewsbury, Mass.) took part in the pole vault and finished seventh with a cleared height of 10'6”.

For the men, junior Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.) and sophomore Thomas Cunningham (Colonia, N.J.) both ran in the 3,000 and posted top-five finishes. Cahill crossed the line in a time of 8:59.61 for third overall, while Cunningham took fifth in a time of 9:17.27.

Senior Victor Servito (Teaneck, N.J.) clocked a time of 8.53 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles for a seventh place showing, while fellow senior Andrew Kraemer (Budd Lake, N.J.) recorded a toss of 43' 9.75” in the weight throw to place fifth.

Stevens will compete again on January 11 at the Gotham Cup in New York City to kick off the 2013 portion of the season.
