ITHACA, N.Y. (February 3, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling squad dropped a 37-6 bout to the nationally ranked No. 5 Ithaca College on Friday night, February 3, in Ithaca, N.Y. The Bombers jumped out a 12-0 lead after the first two bouts and never looked back to secure the home victory.

Two Ducks recorded fall victories in the setback as freshman Mike Polizzi (Montville, N.J.) won his bout at the 141-lb. class and sophomore Alex Moreno (Tenafly, N.J.) took his 197 matchup.

Polizzi defeated Dominick Giancolone by decision, 5-2, to give the Ducks their first three points of the dual. Moreno also recorded a decision win over Thomas Heckman, 4-3, for the final points of the match for Stevens.

Juniors Ryan Dormann (Mickleton, N.J.) and Will Sharkey (Westminster, Md.) grappled to hard-fought decision losses at 174 and 184, respectively. Dormann went up against the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the country, Jules Doliscar, and lost, 3-1. Sharkey squared off against Grant Dickey and came up on the short end of a 5-2 outcome.

Stevens returns to action on February 8 for another non-conference dual against Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. for a 6 p.m. start.
