HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 5, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team tallied its third-straight victory with a 3-1 Empire 8 Conference win over Hartwick College on Homecoming Weekend in Hoboken. Stevens is now 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8, while Hartwick falls to 4-4-3, 1-3-1.

The Ducks fell behind the Hawks in the 15th minute after Cristina Sicari stole a failed clear attempt by the Stevens defense which left Sicari one-on-one with sophomore Evelyn Ting (Gaithersburg, Md.). Sicari beat Ting with a low shot to the right for her first goal of the season.

Ting picked up her third straight victory in goal for the Ducks with three saves in all 90 minutes of action.

Stevens would battle back and notch the equalizer in the 32nd minute on a great display of team work to move the ball down the pitch. Freshman Delaney West (Lumberton, N.J.) sent a long pass down the left side and found classmate Raba Nassif (Northvale, N.J.) just outside the 18-yard box. Nassif then sent a short one-touch cross into the box and found junior Mariah Cleveland (Los Gatos, Calif.) who sent the volley into the net with Hartwick's goalkeeper, Hope Brown, out of position.

After the half, Nassif freed herself up for the game-winner in the 63rd minute, as she crossed her defender over and sent a strike from 20 yards out over Brown's outstretched arms. The tally marks Nassif's second goal this season.

Cleveland picked up her second score of the contest and fifth of the season on a beautiful through ball from freshman Allison Kopacz (Green Brook, N.J.) that split the defense and allowed Cleveland a 1v1 chance for the insurance goal in the 77th minute.

The Ducks controlled play for a majority of the contest and outshout Hartwick, 19-9. Stevens took 12 first half shots which led to seven corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes and finished the match with eight to just one from the Hawks.

Stevens heads up to Rochester, N.Y. next weekend for a pair of conference matches against Nazareth College on October 12 and St. John Fisher College on the 13th. Game times are slated for 12 p.m. against Nazareth and 1 p.m. versus Fisher.
