Worthington, Burke Lead Men’s Fencing to Perfect Day in Home Invite

HOBOKEN, N.J.  (February 10, 2013) – Junior captain Anthony Worthington (Falmouth, Mass.) and junior Danny Burke (Bedminster, N.J.) combined to go 17-0 to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team to a perfect day in the Stevens Invitational – the Ducks' only home meet of the season.
 
The Ducks downed Army, 15-12, New Jersey Institute of Technology, 16-11, Yeshiva University, 20-7, and Hunter College, 21-6, to compile a 4-0 mark on the day and improve their overall record to 12-10 on the year.
 
Stevens came into the day having dropped its last seven matches, but came back strong in this one and will head into next weekend's action on a four-bout win streak.
 
Worthington went 7-0 to lead his foil team, while Burke was 10-0 in the epee. The Ducks' sabre team went 2-2 overall, with foil and epee posting 4-0 marks.
 
Stevens will return to action February 17 in Madison, N.J. as the Ducks will take on the University of Virginia, Johns Hopkins University, William and Mary, Maryland and Haverford.
