NEW YORK CITY (March 2, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology indoor track & field teams completed the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship in New York City on Saturday and two student-athletes set new school records. NCAA qualifiers will be announced on Sunday at 6 p.m., the top 15 women and top 13 men of each event will advance to the championships.

Senior Alina Duran (West New York, N.J.) claimed the weight throw title with a toss of 16.84 meters (55 feet, 3 inches) and won by nearly two feet. She guided the women's team to a ninth place finish overall out of 50 teams.

Fellow senior Victor Servito (Teaneck, N.J.) wrapped up the heptathlon with a second place finish and school record 4,719 points. Servito took first in the 60-meter hurdles, second in the high jump and fourth in the 60-meter dash.

Junior Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) also set a school standard in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:04.87 and placed seventh overall.

Classmate Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.) ran in the 3K and placed 13th with a time of 8:59.27, while sophomore Robert Pinto (Staten Island, N.Y.) leaped 1.91 meters (6' 3.25”) in the high jump for a 19th place showing.
