Cahill and Regan Run in 5K at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 25, 2013) - Two Stevens Institute of Technology outdoor track student-athletes ran at the first day of the Penn Relays on April 25. Sophomore Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.) and freshman Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) each competed in the 5,000-meter run on the opening day of the meet.

Cahill placed 11th overall out of 24 runners and was the top Division III participants in the 5K. He posted a time of 14:45.15 to beat the next closest DIII runner by almost 10 seconds. Cahill broke his own school record by 43 seconds (15:28) en route to the 28th fastest time in the NCAA this season.

Regan was the second-best DIII competitor in the women's portion of the 5K with a time of 17:03.41. She finished 19th in the event out of 31 entries and was 41 seconds better than the next closest divisional counterpart that finished after her. Regan shattered the school record by over two minutes (19:04) for the fifth best time in the country this season. She also holds the second fastest time among freshmen in DIII.

Sophomore Robert Pinto (Staten Island, N.Y.) takes part in the high jump tomorrow at 10 a.m.
