Women’s Soccer Primed For E8 Championship

HOBOKEN, N.J. (NOVEMBER 5, 2015) – After claiming the top seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship, the No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team looks to grab its first E8 title since 2011.

TOURNAMENT INFO
In the first match Friday, Ithaca College will take on Nazareth College at 4 p.m, followed by the Ducks taking on Houghton College at 7 p.m. at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

DUCKS VS THE REST
Stevens comes into the tournament with a 2-0-1 record against the other three clubs. They topped Houghton 2-0, drew 1-1 with Ithaca, and knocked off Naz 3-2 in an overtime thriller.

LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks concluded their regular season with a 5-2 win over Hartwick College last Saturday. Junior Raba Nassif notched four goals for the second time this season, and senior Kristen Goncalves registered a goal and two assists.

CENTURY MARK
Nassif became the second player in women's soccer history to record 100 career points with her fourth goal Saturday. The junior was chosen as E8 offensive player of the week and ECAC player of the week.

STILL ON TOP
The Ducks are on top of several categories in the E8, including shots (217), goals (70), and assists (58). Individually, Nassif is tops in shots (81), points (45) and assists (15), and is tied with freshman Zisi Komar with 15 goals.

GOING GOING GON
Kristen Goncalves has thrived this year in a more offensive role, playing defense, midfield and forward at various points during the year. After being held pointless in back-to-back contests at the beginning of October, Goncalves tallied at least one point in nine of the final 10 games of the season.

NEW TO THE FOLD
Komar and fellow first-years Olivia Butera and Whitney Brown have made an immediate impact this year. Komar is second on the team with 39 points, while Butera has chipped in six goals and four assists. Brown has played a key role as an outside back, while also notching a goal and four assists.
