HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 4, 2016) – The No. 9 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team will look to defend its title this weekend at the 2016 Empire 8 Championship.
CHAMPIONSHIP INFO
Top-seeded Stevens will host fourth-seeded Hartwick Saturday at noon, while Nazareth and Ithaca will battle in the other semi at 3 p.m. Sunday's final will start at 1 p.m., and all matches will take place at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken.
LAST TIME OUT
Stevens closed out its undefeated E8 season Saturday with a commanding 5-0 win over Ithaca. Freshman
Julia Panko scored twice, while senior
Gabby Mathelier, senior
Raba Nassif, and sophomore
Misha Brewster each chipped in with one.
DUCKS VS. THE FIELD
Stevens went 3-0-0 against the field, winning by a combined margin of 8-1. Two of those wins came at home, with the 1-0 Hartwick win coming on the road.
DUCK DOMINANCE
Stevens outscored E8 opponents 31-1 this fall.
HISTORY LESSON
Stevens is 6-4-2 in its history in the championship, and is appearing as the top seed for the third time overall. The Ducks are 2-2-0 against Ithaca all-time, and 2-2-2 against Nazareth.
CAN'T TOUCH THIS
Stevens has outscored opponents 69-10 this fall as the team has averaged 4.06 goals per game. Nassif and sophomore
Zisi Komar have combined for 35 goals, while rookie Panko has nine goals with eight assists.
