Men’s Fencing Wins Five At Home Meet

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 14, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team won each of its five matchups today at the MACFA round robin in Hoboken.

The Ducks topped Lafayette College 20-7, Cornell University 15-12, Haverford College 17-10, Rutgers University 22-5, and Drew University 20-7. The wins extended Stevens' win-streak to nine, and moved its record to 20-11.

The foil squad led the Ducks eight an 8-1 round against Lafayette to open the day, while foil and sabre carried Stevens at 6-3 and 5-4 respectively against Cornell. Foil went undefeated at 9-0 versus Haverford, while foil and sabre combined to 17-1 against Rutgers. Foil's 9-0 round in the final bout against Drew sealed the Ducks 5-0 day.

Overall, foil went 40-5 for the day.

Senior foil fencer Daniel Tracey led the Ducks overall with a 11-2 afternoon, while sophomore Michael Ruotolo and freshman Timothy Steinberg went 9-1 and 9-2 respectively. 

Freshman Brennan Casey rounded-out the Ducks top performances with an 8-0 day at epee.

The Ducks will return to the strips next Sunday with four outs against Division I competition at the Temple Invitational.
