Alfred struck first with two in the first, but the Ducks answered with two of their own in the second the tie the game. With sophomore Olivia Gemma on third and freshman Katherine Tirabassi on second, sophomore Jessica Rees lined a single to score both.

The Ducks grabbed the lead in the third after sophomore Farryl Groder scored on a wild pitch, but Alfred came-back with two in their half of inning to re-take the lead.

Both teams traded zeroes over the next three innings, before Stevens mounted a two-run rally in the seventh to take back the lead. Rees sparked the inning with a lead-off single, followed by a pinch-hit double from freshman Madison Telles to put runners at second and third.

Alfred tallied a strikeout in the next at bat for the second out of the inning, but Groder delivered the knock-out blow with a two-RBI single to give the Ducks the one-run lead.

Freshman starter Marissa Cappello took it from there, retiring the Alfred side in order in the seventh to seal the win and cap a run of nine-straight outs from the rookie hurler.

Groder and Rees each drove in two, while Cappello earned her team-leading fifth win of the season in the two strikeout, four out, complete game performance.
