NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 19, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team swept Cornell University, Rutgers University, The College of New Jersey, and Drew University in Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association action on Sunday.
George Allen,
Ryan Edelstein and
Ian Fan all earned their 100th career wins over the course of the day for the Ducks.
The closest match was against the Big Rod of Cornell. The Ducks dropped tight 3-6 and 4-5 matchups at foil and epee, respectively. But the Stevens sabre squad came up with an 8-1 thrashing of the Ivy Leaguers to give Ducks the 15-12 victory.
Stevens won the other three matchups with relative ease. The epeeists went 9-0 against Rutgers and foil went 9-0 against TCNJ.
Edelstein finished 6-2 on the day at foil, Fan was 6-1 in sabre and Allen was 5-4 at foil.
Other individual standouts on the day were freshman
Juan Amezquita (10-2 in sabre) and
Noah Scott (6-2 in epee).
"The guys fenced great today," said head coach
Jim Carpenter. "It was awesome seeing three of our guys get 100 wins on the same day."
Stevens will hosts its annual alumni match on December 2.
