NEW YORK, N.Y. (September 6, 2017)  – Sophomore Casey King and senior Emily Singleton combined to record 16 kills with just four errors, as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball swept the Hunter College Hawks (25-21, 25-20, 27-25) in a non-conference match Wednesday.

  • Consecutive kills by Budna trimmed the Stevens advantage to four, but a Julia Connolly service error gave the Ducks the second set and a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • With the match on the line, the teams traded the first six points of the match, before Hunter went on its longest run, scoring seven consecutive points to take a 10-3 lead.

Coach Speak (McShea)
  • "The team had shown us a lot of mental toughness so far this season. Credit to Hunter for exploiting some of our weaknesses, serving tough, and coming into the third set with fire."
  • "We had to climb our way back in the third and we were able to come alive and do that."
  • "I'm really proud of our fight and will to finish tonight."

Unsung Hero
  • "Emily Singleton really came alive tonight. We've been challenging her to mix up her shots, change her approach a little bit and put some more power behind the ball and she rose to the occasion tonight. There was a sense of confidence that it would be a kill or put them out of system every time she was set and the stats show that."
  • Singleton finished with seven kills on 16 attacks with just two errors. The Tucson, Arizona native added three blocks and a dig.

Up Next
  • Stevens heads to Schenectady, New York for the Union Invitational.
