HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 2, 2018) - Junior Julia Panko found the back of the net twice as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team defeated The Sage Colleges 4-1 in an Empire 8 Conference semifinal match Friday evening at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
Panko opened scoring in the seventh minute, firing off a free kick from well outside the 18-yard box, as the Ducks won their 12th straight to advance to tomorrow's Empire 8 championship match. Stevens will take on Utica in the program's fourth consecutive E8 final. The Ducks will look to become the first Empire 8 team to capture four straight conference titles.
Sophomore Erica O'Kelly scored her second goal of the season off a rebound less than four minutes into the second half. Panko scored her second of the night 11 minutes later, taking a feed from senior Olivia Butera and burying the ball past Emma Augustine to open a three-goal lead. Panko leads the team with nine goals.
Freshman Brynn Budka completed the Stevens scoring with her first collegiate goal after redirecting an Ashleigh Nagy corner over Augustine's head into the top left corner of the net.
Ariannah Logan scored the lone goal for the Gators, who finished their season 10-7-2.
