PHILADELPHIA (February 23, 2018) –
Ryan Edelstein won seven matchups, but the Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing program dropped matches with No. 3 Penn State, No. 6 UPenn, No. 7 Princeton and No. 8 St. John's as well as a very tough Johns Hopkins team on Sunday at the Temple Open.
Edelstein, the junior from San Diego, led the team with his seven victories in foil.
A trio of Ducks also registered five victories on the day: fifth-year
Kirk Visser had five wins at epee and freshmen
Juan Amezquita and
Eric Sang had five each at sabre.
Penn State, 6-21, Foil 3-6, Epee 1-8, Sabre 2-7.
Johns Hopkins, 10-17, Foil 2-7, Epee 3-6, Sabre 5-4.
UPenn, 4-23, Foil 1-8, Epee 2-7, Sabre 1-8.
St Johns, 8-19, Foil 3-6, Epee 1-8, Sabre 4-5.
Princeton, 5-22, Foil 1-8, Epee 3-6, Sabre 1-8.
Next week the Ducks will return to action at the MACFA Championships hosted by Lafayette on March 4 at 9 a.m. Stevens ends the regular season with a 21-17 dual-meet record.
